Interviews with Cast & Crew

The interview with Jenna and Mya about the cut card discussion scene.

I need to find Sophie Nelisse and others talking about it as well.

Sophie Nelisse on the cut scene between Shauna and Lottie.

I honestly have not seen episode 8. There’s this scene, and I’m not sure if it’s still written in it, where [Shauna] talks with Lottie after she’s beaten her up. It’s supposed to be at the beginning of the episode. She says, “I’ll do anything.” Because Lottie sacrificed herself to get rid of Shauna’s pain in a way, I think she feels like she owes a lot to Lottie. She’ll do whatever she needs to do to make up for the sacrifices Lottie’s made.

I'm going to try to source the deleted scenes talked about here since I think knowing these are really helpful for gauging the "validity" of fan reactions, such as in Season 2 when we learend they had filmed the discussion about the card pulling but it was cut, making me feel significantly less insane about being disappointed about it even though half the fandom thought I was a dumbass for it, lmao. Doesn't talk about it, but also reminiscent of the bonus episode we never got. It all really shows to me that this show isn't super well planned, lololol, because as much as this is common practice to do to ensure episode runtimes stay within bounds or because creation is a continual processs... some of these things are kind of insane to cut due to how important they are, and if they're cut it signifies to me moving in a different direction. Christina Ricci about Misty's sexuality In an Awards Daily interview with Samantha Hanratty, who plays the younger version of Misty, Hanratty says she wondered if Misty might be asexual, something that Ricci also seems to question. “I don’t think she cares about her sexuality. I don’t think she genuinely cares about men. I think with Misty, she tries on different attitudes and perspectives and versions of the women that she sees around her.”

Tawny Cypress about a speech getting cutThe star continued to share behind-the-scenes tidbits about the last time her character laid eyes on Van — revealing a big moment in the woods didn’t make the final cut. “Honestly, I got written the best speech I’ve ever gotten to say in my life. They cut it. You’re not going to see it, unfortunately,” Cypress told The Post exclusively. “I don’t know what happened.” She clarified that Tai’s monologue was right before she ripped out Van’s heart. “There’s a huge speech that’s beautifully written talking about the love that she has for Van,” Cypress said. “I treasured that speech.” Despite the letdown, the actress joked, “I think the scene still works. I’m not gonna s–t on people, but I think this scene really works well.”

Reddit post discussing the rumours about whether Juliette Lewis wanted to be written off, which I include for the screenshot of her Insta story where she said Nat's story didn't go in the direction she signed onto.

Tawny Cypress expressing displeasure with Van's death Cypress, then, seems equally devastated to see Van’s story cut short. “When I read it, it did not feel earned, quite honestly, and I didn’t really understand it,” she admitted. aaaaaaaaaand then Lauren talking about expecting to stay longer because it seems to be a pattern with showrunners misleading people perhaps Speaking to Vanity Fair, the actress said that she expected adult Van to stick around for longer in the show, having only been introduced in season two. “Certainly that was how it seemed from being lured onto the show and getting the job”, she shared.
